Restricting reproductive rights will have severe negative consequences for millions of women and society as a whole. Forcing women to carry unwanted pregnancies to term leads to higher maternal mortality rates, increased poverty levels, and a greater likelihood of children being neglected or abandoned. Furthermore, safe and legal abortion access has been shown to improve educational and economic outcomes for women. Banning abortion will not stop the procedure from happening, it will only make it more dangerous as women seek unsafe illegal options.
