Stop the Systematic Dismantling of Our Democracy

The fundamental integrity of our democracy is at risk. Public institutions—designed to be stable, objective, and superior to the individuals who temporarily hold office—are being systematically hollowed out and replaced by a framework of personal loyalty. This is a structural dismantling of the Rule of Law. The evidence of this erosion is documented and undeniable: 1. Donor Patronage and Competency Failures: Public office is being treated as a commodity. When major political donors are appointed to sensitive diplomatic and administrative roles without proper financial disclosures, institutional competence is sacrificed for personal patronage, undermining professional governance standards. 2. Statutory Corruption and Profiteering: The abandonment of robust blind trust requirements has fostered systemic insider trading. With administration insiders executing major stock trades immediately preceding federal policy shifts, the separation between personal wealth and public duty has collapsed, violating the ethical framework of the STOCK Act. 3. Weaponization of the Justice System: The Department of Justice is being repurposed to target political opponents and silence civil society watchdogs. This represents a fundamental departure from the DOJ’s role as an independent enforcer of the law, shifting toward executive retaliation that violates the Equal Protection clause. 4. Transactional Abuse of Clemency: The pardon power, intended as a check for justice, is being used to shield political allies and donors from legal consequences. By bypassing formal vetting through the Office of the Pardon Attorney, a two-tiered system has emerged where personal loyalty acts as absolute immunity. 5. Dismantling Institutional Independence: The administration is executing a published blueprint to consolidate executive power and bypass congressional oversight. Replacing non-partisan career civil servants with political loyalists turns federal agencies into tools of political retention, violating the core principle of institutional neutrality. When governance becomes a transactional exercise for individual power, the Rule of Law is replaced by personal fealty. This structural decay makes our institutions ineffective and vulnerable to unchecked abuse. Congress has a constitutional mandate to act as a check. I urge you to: 1. Exercise full Article I oversight authority to audit recent executive appointments, settlements, and clemency grants. 2. Enforce strict transparency requirements to stop the misuse of taxpayer-funded agencies for personal or political ends. 3. Reject any policy or nomination that prioritizes individual loyalty over statutory duty and professional competence. 4. Support legislation to prevent quid pro quo pardons, ensuring this power is used for mercy, not for the personal or political enrichment of the executive branch. 5. Legislate clear statutory firewalls to protect non-partisan federal workers from retaliatory firing, preventing the replacement of an independent workforce with political loyalists. The preservation of our republic depends on the strength of its institutions. It is your constitutional duty to ensure that our government remains a government of laws, not of men.
