A Disgraceful Resolution: Denouncing the Recognition of Charlie Kirk
To: Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff
From: A constituent in Canyon Country, CA
September 19, 2025
I am writing to express my deep outrage and disappointment at your recent decision to approve a resolution dedicating a day to Charlie Kirk. This is a betrayal of the values we should hold as a nation, and as a representative of your constituents, you should know better than to glorify someone like Kirk.
Charlie Kirk is not a figure of unity or respect, he is a promoter of extremism, division, and hate. His history of spreading misinformation, fueling conspiracy theories, and attacking marginalized communities speaks for itself. He is not an individual worthy of any form of honor, especially from a public office that should stand for democracy, truth, and justice.
There is no common ground with fascists, Senator. By honoring someone like Charlie Kirk, you are aligning yourself with those who seek to erode our democratic institutions and divide us along lines of fear and hatred. His rhetoric is dangerous and intolerant, and by acknowledging him, you are implicitly endorsing those very same values.
Your duty as a senator is to represent all of your constituents, and I implore you to think about the message this sends to us. Recognizing someone like Charlie Kirk does not promote dialogue or progress, it only exacerbates the divisions that are already threatening our country.
I urge you to reconsider your actions, publicly denounce this resolution. We need leaders who are willing to take a stand against extremism, not empower it. Or are you a fascist as well Senator?
