An Open Letter

To: Sen. Marshall, Sen. Moran, Rep. Davids

From: A verified voter in Olathe, KS

February 11

I am a constuent from Olathe, Kansas, and I am deeply concerned about the SAVE ACT. This act has nothing to do with making sure votes are safe and legal. It is to make voting more difficult for people that have changed their name, specifically women. Women who decide to change their name, typically related to marriage, already jump through hoops to ensure their government documents are changed correctly. That in itself should be adequate vetting. Why make us do it again? This just makes it less likely for women to vote, especially women of color and lower economic status, which im concerned is part of the motivation behind this abhorrent act. It is expensive and takes time to get a certified copies of your birth certificate and marriage license. It is expensive to get a passport. We show all of these documents and more to get a Read ID and passport. Do you not trust that system? I implore you to please vote no on the SAVE ACT and do not allow it as part of any other bill. If you do not stand with the desires of your constituents, you will be voted out in this year's election. Please reply with your thoughts and plan of action for the SAVE ACT.
