Stop Enabling This Administration’s Attacks on Federal Employees
To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt
From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO
October 20
am writing to express my outrage over the continued attacks on federal agencies, federal employees, and independent government oversight. The latest reporting from Government Executive concerning allegations that the VA Inspector General’s office is watering down oversight is another disturbing example of this administration’s willingness to undermine accountability.
Russell Vought, Scott Kapoor, and the officials enabling these attacks must be held accountable. When experienced federal employees are pushed out, staffing is decimated, and independent watchdogs face alleged political interference, it is the American people who suffer. Veterans, taxpayers, and the public deserve a government that operates with integrity, transparency, and accountability, not one that prioritizes political loyalty over public service.
I am sick and tired of watching this administration systematically weaken federal agencies while treating the dedicated employees who keep our government functioning as enemies. This is not government efficiency. It is an attack on the institutions and public servants responsible for serving this country.
And where are you in all of this?
Your responsibility is to represent your constituents, defend the rule of law, and hold those in power accountable. It is not to act as a sycophant for Donald Trump and an administration whose conduct raises serious questions about ethics, accountability, and respect for democratic institutions.
Your constituents are watching, and your silence has consequences. Everyone can see what is happening. You must decide whether you want to stand with the people who elected you or continue enabling an administration that puts political power above the public interest.
I demand that you publicly challenge these attacks, investigate allegations of interference with the VA Inspector General’s work, and oppose policies that undermine federal employees and independent oversight.
Federal employees are not political pawns, and government watchdogs should not be silenced to protect those in power.
Stand up for your constituents. Stand up for federal employees. Stand up for accountability.
If you continue choosing complicity over courage, do not expect voters to forget when they head to the ballot box. Your reelection depends on earning the public’s trust, not blindly serving this administration.
I expect meaningful action, not partisan excuses.
