I support full funding for public media. The staff cuts, layoffs, and buyouts at NPR and PBS, and the disbanding of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, have been devastating to those of us who love public broadcasting and the communities that rely on this journalism. Over 550 jobs have disappeared from local stations, with rural and tribal communities suffering the deepest losses. More than 115 additional stations are now at risk of closing. Public media is a critical lifeline to keeping communities across the country informed. An informed democracy is worth defending. I urgently ask you to support legislation restoring funding for public media now.
