**Oppose H.R. 7757, the KIDS Act** Vote no on any version of H.R. 7757, the KIDS Act, when it comes to the Senate. This bill is well-intentioned but deeply flawed, and passing it would create more problems than it solves. The age verification requirements at the heart of this bill have no reliable technical solution that doesn't involve collecting sensitive personal data on every user — minors and adults alike. That's a privacy nightmare dressed up as child protection. I cannot stress enough the importance of EVERYONE being able to use the internet freely and without privacy barriers being breached. It’s a serious safety issue if they’re not. Also, the 180-day implementation timeline is unrealistic for the complex system overhauls the bill demands, and the compliance costs will crush smaller platforms while doing little to rein in the major corporations with the resources to absorb them. The result is less competition, not more safety. Parents — not federal regulators — should be the primary decision-makers for their children's online lives. The tools to protect kids online should be built with families, not mandated through an unfunded framework that the FTC will struggle to enforce. I want real child safety legislation — laws and the funding to enforce laws that actually stop child predators in the real world — not a bill that trades one set of harms for another.
