Alligator Alcatraz
To: Gov. DeSantis
From: A constituent in Davenport, FL
July 2
We have disagreed on many issues, but I always admired your dedication to Florida's natural environment. Recently, your actions have not reflected your desire to protect that. I am appalled by "Alligator Alcatraz" not only for its environmental impact but also for its gross human rights violations. The construction and lights create incredible noise and light pollution and the impact of moving inmates in and out and keeping it lit constantly will dr astically impact the lives of wildlife in the Everglades. Also, keeping human beings in those conditions in the middle of a swamp during hurricane season is cruel. It should not matter the color of someone's skin or how they got into this country, they deserve respect and basic human decency. This is also negatively impacting Florida's economy by removing people doing very important jobs. Please do not open that camp. It is so cruel and the majority of your constituents do not want it! I understand President Trump may be angry, but please stand up for him when the situation calls for it. Thank you very much for reading.
