Senator McConnells health condition

To: Gov. Beshear

From: A constituent in Louisville, KY

July 6

I am writing as a concerned Kentuckian regarding Senator Mitch McConnell’s ongoing health crisis and the lack of clear public information about his condition. Senator McConnell has reportedly been hospitalized since June 14, and his office has provided only limited statements that he is recovering and working with staff. Today, Laura Loomer claimed that someone inside the White House told her Senator McConnell is “brain dead” and “not coming back.” I understand this is an allegation, not a confirmed fact. But the seriousness of the claim, combined with the lack of public visibility or direct confirmation from Senator McConnell himself, demands immediate action. Kentucky deserves two fully functioning voices in the United States Senate. If Senator McConnell is conscious, able to communicate, and capable of carrying out his duties, that should be clearly confirmed. If he is not, then Kentuckians may currently be underrepresented in Congress without their knowledge. I urge you to use every lawful executive power and public authority available to demand an independent, in-person wellness check or direct confirmation of Senator McConnell’s condition. This is not about party politics. It is about transparency, representation, and the people of Kentucky having confidence that their senator is able to serve.
