Oppose Bathroom Bans — They Solve a Problem That Doesn't Exist

To: Rep. Andrews, Sen. Nesbitt, Gov. Whitmer

From: A verified voter in Stevensville, MI

August 12

Oppose any legislation restricting transgender people from using bathrooms that match their gender identity. These bills are a solution in search of a problem — trans people have been using the correct restroom for decades without any documented pattern of safety incidents. There is no evidence these laws protect anyone. What they do accomplish is real harm. Transgender people, particularly trans youth, face increased anxiety, humiliation, and risk of physical danger when forced into spaces that don't match who they are. Policing bathroom use also raises an obvious question: who enforces this, and how? The answer is invasive, unworkable, and degrading for everyone involved. My vote and my support go to representatives who stand against this kind of legislation. Don't waste time and taxpayer money on bills that target a vulnerable community while solving nothing.
