I am writing to you to tell you how incredibly proud I am of you for putting the country above all in your decision to not seek reelection and for putting your full support behind your Vice President Kamala Harris. You’ve restored a glimmer of hope in me and many other Americans that there might still be decency and good character left in our elected representatives. You’ve reminded us all that our democracy is ours and no one persons. Your selfless act reminds me of our nations first President, George Washington. Many wanted him to stay in power, but after two terms, he knew that in order to ensure our young country was to survive and be one for the people, by the people, he should not seek reelection and allow the peaceful transition of power to another generation. You sir, have also set an incredible example, like Washington, all these years later. Not just for the presidency, but for all in elected government. An admirable and selfless decision that will have lasting impact on our future. I will remember this moment forever, as I know history will. I will also do my part to protect our republic, by participating in this consequential election, I too would like to keep it. My sincerest appreciation and gratitude goes to you and your remarkable contributions to our country. Thank you.
