Your Vote on DHS Funding: Contractors or Constituents?

To: Sen. Gallego, Sen. Kelly, Rep. Crane

From: A constituent in Prescott, AZ

January 30

Are you part of the political extraction system that has taken over government, or do you work for the people? This is how we measure: does our money continue to flow to contractors and private pockets, while innocent people are killed by federal agents and working people can't afford groceries? We are not impressed with rhetoric anymore. Your vote on ICE/DHS funding will tell us if you work for contractors or constituents. ICE can go back to the old standards: immigration law enforcement under Justice, and customs enforcement under Treasury. Voting to fund ICE as currently structured sustains this system at great cost to America. Being held hostage by the threat of a shutdown is bullshit. The argument that you can't fund other budgets is false. It's a convenient one for deceiving the public and increasing division. Accepting promises to negotiate reforms later is part of the political extraction game. The Democrats' playbook is talking tough and then folding for promises that never materialize. Vote NO if DHS remains in the spending package. Vote NO on any DHS funding without concrete reforms written into the bill.
