So, we're told America should be run like a business, which is insane for a number of reasons, but let's roll with it. Let's run America like a business. Here's the thing: In a Business, the elected board (that's you) is responsible to the shareholders (that's us). Your priority should be getting the best FOR US, the shareholders. In a business, failure to do so is legally actionable. What would that mean? The traditional way is to build the business into a resilient, reliable investment. You have been failing at this by letting the President run roughshod over our international standing; we're no longer a safe investment, because YOU are failing to reign him in, to stop him from taking liberties with powers he does not have. You'd develop the policies of our business to insulate us from harm... regulations that make sure that the shareholders aren't exposed to excessive harm. You're failing at this, too, because you've got a fetish for the idea that "running this like a business" means you never have to do anything, ever, except complain about how the restrooms are used. Now, there's the modern way of "running like a business", which you're also failing at. You know how a business makes money? They keep increasing the prices, especially for the people who have the most money. They raise revenues. They charge people for the use of their property. They cut shrewd contracts to get the best deals for the company they represent, not the other guy. And you can also raise revenue by taxing people who actually have spare money. By taxing the people with tons of money. That they made at our expense. If you want to run this country like a traditional business, you make sure it is safe and efficient. Not cut to the bone, not cutting out necessary parts in the names of padding a few cents onto your quarterly, but with enough people to do the job. If you want to run this country like a modern business, you should be bringing value to the shareholders... who are the people of the nation. The citizens and the other residents who pay into the system, but are getting absolutely nothing in return. You are failing your constituencies by not standing up to Donald Trump, and not standing up for us. In a just world, you would be fearing prison.
