I am writing to you as a concerned citizen deeply alarmed by reports that President Donald Trump is poised to receive a luxury Boeing 747-8 jet—valued at over $400 million—from the Qatari royal family. The idea that a President of the United States could accept such a lavish gift from a foreign government is unacceptable, unethical, and potentially unconstitutional. The U.S. Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause exists for a reason: to protect our leaders from foreign influence and to preserve the integrity of our democratic institutions. This arrangement, however it is structured, clearly challenges that principle. No amount of legal maneuvering or semantic justification can erase the fact that this is a massive, extravagant gift from a foreign power to a U.S. political figure. We cannot afford to normalize foreign governments bestowing gifts of this magnitude on any American leader—past, present, or future. Such conduct erodes public trust, invites corruption, and undermines the very foundations of our democracy. It is imperative that Congress take a firm and immediate stand against this egregious violation of ethical standards. I strongly urge you to speak out publicly against this arrangement, to call for a formal investigation, and, if necessary, to pursue legislative remedies that reaffirm the binding power of the Emoluments Clause. It is time for Congress to demonstrate that no individual is above the Constitution—not even a president. Please act with urgency. The American people are watching.
