No UFC arena on the White House lawn

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

June 9

I am writing to urge you to demand the National Park Service halt construction of the UFC arena on the White House’s South Lawn and require the president and his family to personally cover any and all damage to White House grounds. The White House is the people's house, not a venue for a bloodsport cage match for millionaires. A federal lawsuit filed this past Saturday argues the event violates NPS regulations, requires never-sought Congressional approval, and exploits a special rule meant for the nation's 250th anniversary celebration: a rule this for-profit, privately-organized event does not qualify for. The White House lawn belongs to every American. Congress has the authority to act here. You must use it. My wife and I urge you to demand the president and his family, personally—not taxpayers, pay for any and all damage done to the White House lawn and to hold this Republican administration fully responsible.
