Reverse your PPL position! Healthcare workers, Disabled People deserve Better.

I'm writing to urge you to stand up for home care workers and consumers whose lives are imminently at risk.
I strongly oppose the plan to centralize management of the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program to a for profit corporation called PPL. This plan will affect 280k consumers and 425k workers who are all being forced to switch to PPL as their payroll company by March 28th. The impossibly short 3-month timeline will cause tens of thousands of people to fall through the cracks. Consumers will lose their home care services and home care workers won't be paid. The transition to PPL concerns me because as a New Yorker, I believe all citizens deserve the right to quality health care. As a disabled person, I believe I should have the right to get that care in my home should I ever need it. And that those care workers deserve to be paid adequately for their work.
Our state continues to have the worst home care workforce shortage in the nation. The YOUR plan will only worsen the crisis, forcing disabled people and older adults into nursing homes.
I implore you to reverse your position on this plan, and allow for a better plan, such as S1189 Rivera/A2735 Stirpe. Allowing for more time and better collaboration. For disabled folks and their workers.
