You cannot be anti-trans and pro-equality. HRC President Kelley Robinson said it plainly at the National Dinner, and she's right. If you support LGBTQ+ rights, then stand with the full community — that means opposing the transgender military ban, restoring HIV funding, and bringing back qualified LGBTQ+ counselors on the 988 crisis line. No carve-outs, no hedging. Governor Whitmer signed the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act expansion in 2023, protecting people from discrimination based on gender identity in a genuine swing state — and she kept winning. The political argument that abandoning trans people is somehow "safer" is simply false. Freedom isn't divisible. None of us are free until everyone is free, and I expect you to govern like you believe that.
