Oppose the "Big Beautiful Bill"

To: Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff, Rep. Huffman

From: A constituent in Petaluma, CA

July 2

I am writing to implore you to reject the "Big Beautiful Bill" currently before you. As an American citizen, I am deeply concerned by the contents of this legislation and believe its passage would be detrimental to our nation's future. This bill, characterized by its sprawling collection of tax breaks and spending cuts, appears poised to exacerbate economic inequality and undermine vital public services. While promoted as beneficial, analyses indicate that its primary beneficiaries would be the wealthiest, while simultaneously burdening the poorest and potentially stripping millions of essential protections and services. The proposed cuts to critical programs, such as healthcare and nutrition initiatives, are unacceptable and demonstrate a severe disregard for the well-being of vulnerable populations. Furthermore, the scale of this bill's impact on the national debt is alarming. Sacrificing fiscal responsibility for the sake of ill-conceived tax cuts will have lasting negative consequences for generations to come. I urge you to prioritize the needs of all Americans, not just a select few. Instead of passing this atrocious bill, I ask that you focus on legislation that promotes genuine economic opportunity, strengthens our social safety net, and ensures responsible fiscal governance. Please, do not let this bill become law.
