Keep Department of Education - vital for students, aid, civil rights

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Rubio, Rep. Diaz-Balart

From: A constituent in Hialeah, FL

November 29

I disapprove of S. 5384, the bill to abolish the Department of Education. Abolishing the Department would be detrimental to students across the nation. Federal financial aid programs play a crucial role in ensuring access to higher education for millions of students from diverse backgrounds. The Department's enforcement of civil rights laws prohibits discrimination and promotes equal educational opportunities. Furthermore, its role in setting national priorities and standards helps maintain quality and address key issues in education. Dismantling this vital agency would undermine these efforts and adversely impact the futures of countless young people.
