THE LEVEL OF CHAOS AND INCOMPETENCE THAT WE’RE SEEING IS LITERALLY UNBELIEVABLE

The Iran war is historically unpopular. Republicans in Congress know this. But still refuse to exercise any oversight of the Pentagon and the White House. Why? Because… “You don’t want to show that kind of division to your enemy when you’re in the midst of a war,” Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) told a reporter. “I don’t have a problem with the administration avoiding showing our enemy that they don’t have 100 percent support of the Congress.” Whoops. Plan foiled. “They’re holding news conferences,” Senate majority leader John Thune (R-SD) told reporters last week. Ha. Good one. Every single thing that comes out of the Trump administration is suspect. They lie. Then lie some more. But you say there is no need for official hearings? The reality is the GOP Congress doesn’t want to do the hard work of choosing country over politics. The International Energy Agency found “The conflict in the Middle East has created the largest supply disruption in the history of the global oil market, due to the near halt in shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.” It added: “The resumption of transit through the Strait of Hormuz is the single most important action to return to stable oil and gas flows and reduce the strains on markets and prices.” But what is the advice from our ‘leaders’? Drive slower. Take the bus. Don’t fly. Go to Starbucks less often. And just be more patriotic. That sounds like a $1B/a day solution to we the people. Someone’s earning their government paycheck. This week the president told reporters he was not sending troops to Iran. The very next day CBS News reported that the Pentagon has made detailed preparations for sending troops to Iran. The administration is currently moving thousands of Marines to the Middle East. They will not be in place for a few weeks. Which sure seems to suggest the administration is expecting to send troops to Iran. The WH continues to try to sell its war as a violent video game. With Trump as a dignified leader. Footage of military strikes is intercut with football hits. Or bowling pins being blasted apart. Or with clips from movies like Top Gun and Gladiator. A WH official told reporters, “We’re over here just grinding away on banger memes, dude. There’s an entertainment factor to what we do. But ultimately, it boils down to the fact that no one has ever attempted to communicate with the American public this way before.” Never attempted because most Americans don’t suffer from arrested development. Dude. And the most telling act, Trump’s PAC used images from a dignified transfer in a fundraising email. On Wednesday Fox announced that “at the request of the families, the dignified transfer is going to remain private. There will not be any cameras.” That request from families didn’t seem to work. The administration posted a number of photos from Wednesday’s ceremony on social media, showing Trump in the background, saluting. Mission accomplished. Americans dying are just another meme to raise money off of. This is what y’all have done to America.
