I am writing to express my deep concern over recent developments involving President Donald Trump’s personal business ventures while serving in public office. According to multiple news outlets, including CNN and the Washington Examiner, President Trump is actively promoting and profiting from two commercial product lines: the “Trump T1” smartphone and the “Victory” fragrance collection.
While the administration claims that these ventures were initiated before or outside the presidency, such justifications are completely inadequate. The fact remains that the President is using his public platform and status to directly benefit private enterprises that bear his name. That is a blatant conflict of interest, and it violates the spirit—if not the letter—of the ethical standards we expect from our nation’s highest office.
When a sitting president endorses personal business products—be it a smartphone line or a fragrance collection—it creates an untenable entanglement between public duty and private profit. Americans deserve to know that decisions made from the White House are in the public’s interest, not aimed at brand-building or personal gain. This kind of self-promotion erodes public trust, weakens the credibility of the executive branch, and sets a dangerous precedent for future leaders.
This issue transcends partisan politics—it is about preserving the integrity of our democratic institutions. I urge you to speak out, demand full transparency, and support legislation that strengthens ethics and anti-corruption laws for public officials, especially the President. At the very least, Congress must ensure that no president—current or future—can exploit the power of the office to sell consumer products or profit off the presidency.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope you will act decisively to defend the ethical standards of our government.
