An Open Letter

Congress must uphold its commitment to protecting vital social safety net programs like Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Millions of Americans, including children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities, rely on Medicaid for access to affordable health care. SNAP benefits provide crucial food assistance to over 40 million people, lifting millions out of poverty each year. Any attempts to cut funding or impose restrictive work requirements would be detrimental to the well-being of our most vulnerable citizens. It is imperative that these programs remain fully funded and accessible to those in need. Taking action to strengthen and expand Medicaid and SNAP should be a top priority to ensure no American goes without basic necessities like health care and food.
