The severe cuts to agencies that are coming will be crippling and devastating. They are not following proper RIF procedures and they are gutting agencies they don’t like or that interfere with their grifting.
Extinction level cuts are coming to NASA. The Trump administration proposal for NASA calked for 50 percent cuts to its science program. NASA is popular with Americans of all stripes and does important research. The proposed cuts are likely to have come from Russel Vought of OMB who proposed 50 percent cuts to NASA in Project 2025 because they follow actual scientific research on climate change. The proposed cuts are an extinction level event for space science and exploration. Losing that much money that fast is unprecedented. It would decimate our countries science workforce. NASA expands our knowledge about the Earth’s atmosphere, weather, climate and land use. The 83 percent cuts to USAID that Marc Rubio announced Monday will put lives in jeopardy. Millions of lives will be harmed by these actions. Contracts were terminated with notices a few minutes and no review was even done of the programs being cut. USAID missions spent the weekend working around the clock drafting descriptions to find out Monday that decisions were already made. The cuts to foreign age will cost countless lives and you are allowing it to happen. I am ok with not accepting the budget without guardrails for the hostile takeover of our government and the huge cuts that are happening. I will go without pay in a shutdown and I am a single parent who needs my income but what is happening needs to be stopped. Grow a spine and step up to the injustice that is going on. Devastation will follow otherwise.
