I am writing to urge you to vote against any funding for ICE and US Customs and Border Patrol. $71 billion dollars is an outrageous amount for this out of control agency. ICE has become a lawless organization accountable to no one. Its agents are faceless and badgeless. They are abducting residents and citizens alike without arrest warrants or reading them their Miranda rights, as required by law. Abductees are not given access to legal consultation or afforded due process, as required by law. Abductees are not given the opportunity to post bail, as required by law. If these actions were happening in another country, we would accuse them of human rights violations. This anonymous, private militia must be disbanded. The first step in that is defunding. My wife and I urge you to refuse to further fund ICE, to demand its dissolution, and to free those detainees who have no criminal record.
