Oppose Cuts to Clean Energy Programs and Climate Protections

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt, Rep. Cleaver

From: A verified voter in Lees Summit, MO

June 18

I'm your constituent and I'm contacting my legislators to demand that you oppose H.R. 1, the House-passed budget reconciliation bill, and its harmful cuts to vital clean energy and climate programs. Specifically, I’m very concerned about the following. The cuts to clean energy, vehicle, and residential tax credits and rebates that will drive up our energy costs. The repeal of the Inflation Reduction Act’s clean energy investments that will kill thousands of much needed jobs. The gutting of crucial programs that protect our communities from air pollution, extreme weather, and other environmental risks. The selling off of our public lands and waters in order to expand drilling and mining. Language from the REINS Act that will delay or prevent the implementation of critical climate and pollution regulations. Congress should pass a fair and responsible budget that helps working families and communities, not one that slashes our benefits to fund tax cuts for the wealthy.
