Oppose the SAVE Act Suite of Bills

To: Sen. Mullin, Sen. Lankford, Rep. Lucas

From: A constituent in Oklahoma City, OK

March 19

I'm asking you to oppose the SAVE Act suite of bills. These measures would create unnecessary barriers to voter registration and make it harder for eligible citizens to exercise their right to vote. Voting is already secure. Adding documentary proof of citizenship requirements would disenfranchise millions of Americans who don't have easy access to birth certificates or passports, including elderly voters, low-income citizens, and people who were born at home. The current system works: noncitizen voting is extremely rare and already illegal under federal law. These bills solve a problem that doesn't exist while creating real harm. They would increase costs for election administration, slow down voter registration, and reduce participation in our democracy. Vote no on the SAVE Act suite.
