Federal Agents Killed Two American Citizens. Accountability Before Any Funding.
To: Sen. Ernst, Sen. Grassley, Rep. Nunn

March 5
Renée Nicole Good, 37, mother of three. Killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled it a homicide. No federal investigation opened.
Alex Jeffrey Pretti, 37, VA intensive care nurse, licensed gun owner with no criminal record. Killed by CBP agents while filming on a public street on January 24, 2026. No federal investigation opened.
Two American citizens. Killed by federal agents. Both on camera. No accountability.
The law is clear.
The Fourth Amendment prohibits detention without a warrant. The First Amendment protects the right to film law enforcement on public streets — settled in Fields v. City of Philadelphia (3rd Cir. 2017) and Glik v. Cunniffe (1st Cir. 2011). The Fifth Amendment guarantees due process to every person on American soil. The Second Amendment protects licensed firearm carry — the right Alex Pretti was exercising when federal agents killed him.
No federal agency is exempt from the Constitution. No funding bill changes that.
I am asking you to vote no on any DHS appropriation that does not include warrant requirements, use of force standards, and independent oversight with authority to investigate deaths in custody. These are not policy preferences. They are constitutional minimums.
Will you fund agencies that kill American citizens without accountability — yes or no?
