Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you, in the strongest possible terms, to vote YES on the reintroduced Senate measure to block further escalation of military action under the War Powers Resolution Act. We have to force this rogue Executive branch from acting unilaterally without authorization from a fully briefed Congress. The legal use of our military to effect regime change for oil in Venezuela isn’t anything that the people want, regardless of how bad Maduro is. Worse, the Trump cabal is threatening land grabs for resources all over the Western hemisphere based upon whim and likely at the behest of industry and/or other foreign powers — Russia — looking for chaos and destabilization of the United States and its alliances. These are brazen, illegal escalations of conflict, and many in Congress have been lied to about Trump, his advisors and enablers in Congress. Are we a democracy or not? Will the people’s voices be listened to or not? Support the vote in order to invoke the War Powers Act and help stop this unchecked series of colonial land grabs. Thank you.
