I have so many concerns about yesterday's military pep rally, which could have been an email or a Zoom call. What parts of the Rally do you approve of? 1) the cost to taxpayers? 2) the threat to national security by having those in charge all come to DC, leaving bases around the globe without leadership? 3) Hegseth telling the generals they work for and defend Trump, not the Constitution? or 4) the fact that Fox News said this was the kind of meeting of the military that you would see in China? What a dangerous and wasteful display. For those of you in Ohio, this message goes to STATE then Legislature, then Lower. I strongly oppose HB 36, which would allow the State to use poisonous gas or the firing squad to kill people who have been convicted of a crime and been sentenced to death. The death penalty is immoral (if killing is wrong, having it done by the government doesn't make it right), expensive, applied in a capricious and often racist way, and has been proven to not reduce crime. For all these reasons, I vehemently oppose HB 36. We should be working to end the death penalty not adding new ways for the State to kill people.
