What is happening right now is an abomination.
Parents are being deported at routine immigration check-ins. Us Citizen toddlers and children are being ripped from their homes, stripped of their rights, and thrown out of the only country they have ever known. You are standing by while ICE carries out these attacks on families in broad daylight.
According to the Associated Press, immigrant mothers have been deported alongside their American-born children. These are children with cancer and special medical needs. In one case, a two-year-old U.S. citizen was deported against her father’s will while a court hearing to stop it was underway. In another, a four-year-old with cancer and his seven-year-old brother were sent to Honduras. This is not law enforcement. This is state-sanctioned cruelty.
Heather Cox Richardson lays it out plainly. This is not about justice. It is about fear. It is about using the machinery of immigration law to terrify, to punish, and to dismantle the very meaning of citizenship.
Do not pretend you do not know what is happening. Do not hide behind bureaucracy or “policy.” Deporting U.S. citizen children is a direct violation of their constitutional rights. Destroying families under the pretense of law and order is a stain on this country’s name. Every day you fail to act, that stain grows darker.
You need to stop these deportations immediately. No more families ripped apart at check-ins. No more American kids deported to countries they have never lived in. No more pretending this is normal or acceptable. It is not. It is evil.
Investigate ICE and halt these removals. Protect the rights of U.S. citizens and immigrant families. Offer real support to those you have already harmed.
You were elected to represent all of us. That includes the smallest, the most vulnerable, and yes, the immigrants who have built lives and families here.
History is watching. We are watching. And we will not forget who stood silent while American children were deported.
