I'm asking you to reject the administration's proposed $1.6 billion cut to NOAA and maintain the agency's funding at current levels. This 32% reduction would cripple an agency that protects American lives and livelihoods every single day.
NOAA's work isn't abstract. Cutting its budget means weaker weather forecasts that families and emergency responders depend on. It means disrupted fisheries management that coastal economies rely on. It means stalled ocean research that helps us understand and respond to climate threats. These cuts put Americans at risk and surrender our global scientific leadership.
Congress already showed bipartisan support for NOAA funding earlier this year. That support reflected the reality that ocean health and weather forecasting aren't partisan issues. They're survival issues. I need you to stand firm against these cuts and ensure NOAA has the resources to do its job. Our economy, our safety, and our future depend on it.
