Please address National Guard Army Commander Jeffrey Smiley’s pro-MAGA retweets

To: Sen. Stern, Asm. Rodriguez, Gov. Newsom

From: A constituent in North Hollywood, CA

June 8, 2025

Late last year Major General Smiley (@JeffreySmi13814) reposted Tweets from Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy espousing MAGA views on immigration Ramaswamy, as well as a sycophantic Tweet expressing love for Donald Trump - these are still up as of now and not very far down his timeline. Now that Trump has nationalized the National Guard and deployed troops to Los Angeles, California officials must address these expressions and provide real assurance that Smiley will direct his Army command faithfully and without prejudice towards immigrants or supposed immigrants, or worse, with overriding personal loyalty to Trump.
