Protect federal workers' data from corporate exploitation

To: Gov. Kemp

From: A constituent in Decatur, GA

February 5, 2025

There are nearly 80,000 federal employees in the state of Georgia whose personal information has been compromised due to unauthorized access by Elon Musk's team. This major data breach, which allegedly involved unlawfully gaining access to information from HHS, Medicare and Medicaid, and the Department of Treasury, puts these public servants at serious risk of identity theft, financial fraud, and other misuse of their sensitive data. Prompt action must be taken to secure this information, investigate how the breach occurred, hold those responsible accountable, and prevent future violations of government workers' privacy rights. Will the state of Georgia move to protect its constituents by implementing stringent safeguards to protect federal personnel records from exploitation by corporate interests? Risking the well-being of dedicated civil servants for private gain is unacceptable.
