Oppose the Michigan House Budget Cuts to Public Schools
To: Rep. Johnsen, Sen. Albert

June 23, 2025
I am writing as a concerned Michigan resident to strongly urge you to oppose the recently proposed $3 billion cut to our public school funding. According to the Michigan House Budget, these cuts would strip away vital support for our students and educators — including universal school meals, early literacy programs, transportation funding, mental health resources, support for at-risk students, school safety measures, and career and technical courses.
At a time when our schools already face tremendous challenges, reducing critical funding will only deepen inequities and jeopardize our children’s futures. Every student deserves access to nutritious meals, safe and reliable transportation, emotional and mental health support, literacy programs that help them thrive, and career-training options that prepare them for the workforce.
I respectfully ask you to stand up for Michigan’s public schools by rejecting these harmful cuts. Our students, educators, and communities deserve robust support — not another setback.
Please do what you can to protect our schools and ensure every child receives the resources they need to succeed.
