Rescind unlawful resignation program for federal employees

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno, Rep. Joyce

From: A constituent in Kent, OH

January 29, 2025

This so-called "deferred resignation program" is highly concerning and raises serious legal questions. Essentially asking federal employees to resign without any basis in law or regulation seems like an underhanded tactic to unlawfully terminate civil servants. Federal employee unions and legal experts have rightly condemned this offer, urging workers not to accept it as it provides no guarantees and could jeopardize their job security. This attempt to push out government workers, including those in critical national security roles, appears to be a resignation threat rather than a legitimate buyout program. Proceeding with this dubious offer would likely prompt legal challenges for violating civil service protections and federal workforce policies. I urge you to immediately rescind this legally questionable directive.
