I am writing to you with serious concern regarding a resolution introduced by Rep. Nancy Mace attempting to ban transgender women from using the women’s restroom at the US Capitol building. This is clearly an attack upon Sarah McBride, a recently elected member of the Delaware Senate. However, the Representative is highly likely to not be the only person impacted by this resolution. Transgender women are not a threat to anyone. Men commit violence in women’s restrooms across America on a regular basis, they have no need to pretend to be transgender to do so. Transgender individuals, however, are highly likely to be attacked for using the restroom, regardless which one they choose. Don’t let our Capitol be one more place that transgender people are made unsafe by an inane culture war. Protect and defend Senator-elect McBride and all those like her.
