I’m asking you to support a strong federal ban on partisan gerrymandering for congressional districts, and to pass legislation like the Freedom to Vote Act that would finally make fair maps the law of the land.
Right now, politicians in many states still draw maps to lock in power and pick their voters instead of letting voters pick their leaders, and the Supreme Court’s Rucho decision means federal courts can’t step in to stop extreme partisan gerrymanders. That leaves you in Congress as the only institution with the power to set nationwide rules and protect voters.
Partisan gerrymandering rigs outcomes before Election Day, worsens racial inequities in representation, and rewards extremism over problem‑solving. When people know districts are engineered to be safe for one party, they lose faith that their vote matters.
Please:
• Co‑sponsor and actively work to pass a federal ban on partisan gerrymandering.
• Support the Freedom to Vote Act’s redistricting provisions, including clear partisan‑fairness standards and fast enforcement in federal court.
Democracy only works when the rules are fair before anyone knows who will win. I’m asking you to act now to make every vote count equally.
