I am writing as a concerned mother of a two-year-old and a constituent. I urge you to take action on three critical issues: opposing Linda McMahon’s nomination as Secretary of Education, rejecting school voucher programs, and investigating Elon Musk’s access to and influence over government affairs.
First, I strongly urge you to vote NO on Linda McMahon’s nomination as Secretary of Education. Her background in business and professional wrestling does not qualify her to lead our nation’s education system. Our children deserve leadership that prioritizes evidence-based education policies, supports public schools, and understands the challenges faced by educators and students. McMahon’s lack of experience in education policy, combined with her history of supporting privatization efforts, raises serious concerns about the future of public education under her leadership.
Second, I ask that you oppose any expansion of school voucher programs. Vouchers divert essential public funds to private and often unaccountable institutions, weakening our public schools and exacerbating inequities in education. Instead of subsidizing private education, we should be investing in public schools, ensuring that all children—regardless of their ZIP code—have access to a quality education, well-paid teachers, and the resources they need to succeed.
Lastly, I urge you to investigate Elon Musk’s access to and influence over government decision-making. His control over critical infrastructure, including Starlink and Tesla, raises alarming questions about national security, potential conflicts of interest, and undue influence over public policy. No private individual should have the ability to dictate government actions that impact military operations, transportation, and communication networks. Congress must ensure that our government remains accountable to the public, not to billionaires with personal stakes in policy outcomes.
As a parent, I want my child to grow up in a country where public education is valued, government leadership is qualified, and national security decisions are made transparently. I urge you to stand up for these priorities and look forward to your response.
