Oppose job-harming rescissions of aid, public broadcasting funds

To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz, Rep. Self

From: A constituent in Wylie, TX

June 8

The rescissions package, which would cancel $9.4 billion across foreign aid and public broadcasting programs, risks eliminating jobs for American citizens. Cuts to USAID's global health initiatives and developmental assistance could reduce employment opportunities for medical professionals, logistics workers, and program administrators involved in delivering this aid. Slashing funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting would likely lead to layoffs across their nationwide network of PBS and NPR affiliates. At a time when protecting American livelihoods should be a priority, codifying these spending reductions could undermine job security for many of our citizens working in impacted sectors.
