The GOP COULD Use a MORAL Win. How BOUT Dealing with Trump/epstein?

“Why would a man in his 40s, whose main business was real-estate development, want to host a beauty contest for teenage girls?” Good question. And one that is asked in the House Judiciary Committee report released yesterday by Democrats. A report saying that a “growing body of evidence demonstrates that Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s. The Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are doing everything they can to keep the American people in the dark about it.” The report offered new information from Beatrice Keul, a former Miss Switzerland, who says Trump used a pageant at the Plaza Hotel in New York City as a “hunting ground” to prey on young victims and that Trump raped her there in 1993, leaving her bleeding and bruised. This is just one of a years-long litany of credible accusations. Verifiable accusations. Accusations that have been stonewalled. Slow walked. Filed away. Ignored. Minimized. Swept under the carpet hoping it would just all go away. It’s sordid. It’s complicated. It’s revelatory. It’s stomach turning. And it’s no surprise to any one that men with power can create their own world of depravity. And get away with it. Which they did. They are. And they will until someone with the power and means to do so, looks the depravity in the face and brings it all into the light. Those responsible for these crimes must be investigated and prosecuted. But Trump’s DOJ is moving heaven and earth to avoid doing what they been ordered to do. Why? So far, any investigation has given a pass to all the individuals who took part in this decades-long, multibillion-dollar international sex trafficking ring, that victimized over 1,000 women and girls. Trump’s DOJ has shut down ongoing investigations into all potential Epstein accomplices and co-conspirators. And has obstructed efforts by state and foreign prosecutors to conduct their own investigations to hold these individuals accountable. Trump’s DOJ has stonewalled an investigation in New Mexico, refusing to provide state prosecutors with access to key evidence relating to Zorro Ranch. When British law enforcement lodged a request for mutual assistance for evidence of Epstein’s ties to a senior British politician, DOJ refused to hand over relevant evidence—putting the UK’s investigation “at risk of collapse.” To elected officials who say one thing while doing another…prove you care about these victims. Prove you care about justice. About holding predators to account. That you care about the half of your constituents who are women. Or at the very least, read the report and come to your own conclusions. democrats-judiciary.house.gov
