Demand an End to the Human Rights Violations Against Venezuelan Migrants

I am writing to express my deep outrage and concern over the treatment of 238 Venezuelan migrants who were recently deported by the United States and are now being held in a maximum-security prison in El Salvador. According to reports from the Associated Press, these individuals—some of whom are seeking legal recourse through habeas corpus petitions—have effectively disappeared into a system that refuses to acknowledge their status or even justify their detention. This is a grave violation of human rights and due process. These are human beings—people with families, stories, and rights under international law—not pawns in a political agenda. Even more troubling is that the Trump administration is invoking an 18th-century wartime law to justify this deportation, labeling the migrants as part of an “invading force” without evidence or due process. A U.S. federal judge reportedly issued a verbal order to turn the deportation flights around, yet the administration chose to proceed anyway, in blatant defiance of judicial authority. This is not how a democracy should function. We should not be exporting vulnerable people to disappear into the prison systems of other nations. We should not be weaponizing our immigration system to circumvent human rights. I urge you, in the strongest possible terms, to speak out against these actions and push for a full investigation. Demand transparency, accountability, and above all, humanity. Use your platform to stop these abuses before more lives are destroyed.
