Urge Republican Colleagues to Act on Trump's Threats Against NATO Allies

President Trump's recent statement to Norway's Prime Minister represents a dangerous departure from American values and constitutional governance. In his letter, Trump wrote that because Norway didn't award him the Nobel Peace Prize, he "no longer feel[s] an obligation to think purely of peace... but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States." This threat against a NATO ally over a personal slight demonstrates unfitness for office. Trump's rhetoric toward Norway and Greenland signals a return to pre-World War II imperialism, where nations invaded others for resources. This approach threatens the global order that has prevented major power conflicts for decades. If the United States abandons its commitment to territorial sovereignty, we invite adversaries like China to invade Taiwan, potentially cutting off semiconductor supplies critical to our economy and national security. The consequences could include global conflict. Republican Representative Don Bacon has already stated he would lean toward impeachment if Trump invaded Greenland. Rick Wilson from the Lincoln Project noted Trump's behavior is "deep into 25th Amendment territory." These assessments from across the political spectrum reflect the gravity of this moment. I urge you to work with Republican colleagues to present a clear choice to administration officials including Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, and Susie Wiles. Either they invoke the 25th Amendment to remove a president who threatens allies over personal grievances, or Congress must begin impeachment proceedings for officials refusing to uphold their constitutional duties. With the narrow House majority, only three or four Republicans would need to join Democrats to take action. This is not about partisan politics. It is about preserving the constitutional order and preventing catastrophic foreign policy decisions driven by personal vendettas. Our NATO alliances, global stability, and national security depend on immediate action before Trump's escalating threats become reality.
