As one of your constituents, I urge you not to let the newly introduced SCREEN Act pass the Senate. This bill represents a dystopian breach of privacy and threat to the constitutional rights of all Americans. It will do nothing to protect children and will only enable constant surveillance of American citizens' online activities. Your constituents demand an open internet where free speech can prosper, without being locked behind faulty and invasive age verification measures that compromise anonymity and enable widespread data collection on private browsing habits. Restricting legal content for consenting adults through mandatory age verification is a form of censorship that violates free expression rights. Rather than infringing on civil liberties, resources should be directed towards evidence-based efforts to address the root societal issues surrounding pornography consumption and its potential harms.
