Vote NO on the big beautiful bill
To: Rep. Moran
From: A constituent in Longview, TX
July 1, 2025
I am writing to you as a deeply concerned constituent who values democracy, transparency, and the rights of all Americans. I urge you—beg you—to vote NO on the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.”
This bill is not what it claims to be. Beneath the patriotic branding lies a dangerous, authoritarian blueprint that threatens the very foundations of our democracy. It appears to centralize executive power, weaken checks and balances, undermine voting rights, and strip critical safeguards that protect against government overreach. These are not reforms—they are regressions that could undo decades of democratic progress.
Key concerns include:
• Expanded executive authority: The bill would dangerously concentrate power in the presidency, bypassing Congress and the courts. Our government was built on separation of powers—this bill dismantles that balance.
• Suppression of dissent: Provisions targeting protest rights, press freedom, and whistleblower protections are deeply alarming. A democracy cannot function when voices are silenced.
• Assault on voting rights: By restricting mail-in voting, limiting access to the polls, and enabling discriminatory purges of voter rolls, this bill threatens free and fair elections.
• Targeting marginalized communities: From immigration to policing, many elements of the bill promote cruelty and division rather than unity and justice.
We cannot afford to normalize extremism or trade liberty for the illusion of strength. This bill may be branded as “beautiful,” but its impact would be ugly—undermining the principles that make this nation great: accountability, equality, and rule of law.
Please, do not let history remember this moment as the one when we let democracy slip away. Your vote matters immensely. Stand on the side of the Constitution. Stand with the people.
Vote NO on the “Big Beautiful Bill.”
