I am your constituent and I want you to know the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) costs us very little, about $7.5 billion yearly, If this funding stops—as suggested by a recent directive—infections and deaths are expected to rise significantly, including 1 million new pediatric cases of HIV and 460 000 additional AIDS-related deaths in children by 2030, according to a health policy analysis recently published in The Lancet. Here is a link to that analysis, https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(25)00401-5/abstract.
The 2025 Defense Department Budget is scheduled to increase from $824 billion to $905 billion - an increase of $81 billion. We are saving a million children for 1/10 of the increase in the defense budget. And you know who wants to spend 100 million on a birthday parade.
