Recent reporting says Republicans are now trying to get $1 BILLION in taxpayer funding for President Trump’s ballroom.
Is that true?
It is said Senator Chuck Grassley included the request for the funds in a reconciliation package released Monday night.
The $1B would go to the Secret Service for “security adjustments and upgrades” related to the ballroom’s construction.
(This in addition to $30.7B for ICE and $3.5B for Customs and Border Protection.
In a statement Monday, Grassley said “Republicans won’t allow our country to be dragged backwards by Democrats’ radical, anti-law enforcement agenda.”
Rich coming from the new improved GOP of lawbreaking and corruption.
But since reconciliation allows for a simple majority in the Senate, Trump will get absolutely get his ballroom funds. Public wishes be damned.
So in the end, this personal vanity project, brought about because of a president’s unlawful destruction of the East Wing, went from zero $$$ from taxpayers to $400M that Senate Republicans asked for last month, to $1B this week.
Absolutely zero of we taxpayers think this is a national emergency.
Zero of us want to spend $1B on a ballroom for the rich and powerful to backslap and party while the rest us try to figure out if we can have rice with our beans this week. After we figure out how to get to the grocery store because our gas tank’s empty.
This is exactly the out-of-touch actions that lead to revolution.
And if you don’t believe me, ask history.
None of our money for a ballroom. Period. Full stop.
And stop using we the people as cover for your BS.
