An Open Letter

To: Sen. Grassley, Rep. Feenstra, Sen. Ernst

From: A constituent in Ames, IA

June 12, 2025

I write to you to express my extreme concern for the health and safety of the United States of America. I am very concerned and outraged at the way that United States Senator Alex Padilla was manhandled, handcuffed, and arrested for attempting to take part in a press conference of an official of this administration. I ask you to summon the courage of your convictions for the protection of the institution of the United States Congress and the elected representatives of the people. On behalf of your constituents, I ask you to speak out against the terrible treatment of citizens of this country and members of the United States Congress. You should share my outrage for this egregious action. On behalf of your constituents I ask you to speak out against all of the thuggish behavior and demand the immediate resignation or firing of Ms. Noem and all of the agents involved. Failure to respond forcefully to these thuggish actions will allow this administration to further erode the rights of all American citizens, and if you think that you are immune from being frog-marched out of your office, you are kidding yourself.
