I'm writing as your constituent to express my deep concern and disappointment in your recent vote against Senate Joint Resolutions 34 and 41 — efforts introduced by Senator Bernie Sanders to block the sale of $675.7 million in bombs and tens of thousands of fully automatic assault rifles to the Israeli government.
These weapons, funded by U.S. taxpayers, are being sent to a military that has repeatedly used deadly force against civilians. Just this year, 14-year-old Palestinian-American Amir Rabee, a constituent of Senator Cory Booker, was killed by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank. And yet, instead of taking this moment to pause arms sales and demand accountability, the Senate chose to greenlight more violence.
I know these votes do not happen in isolation — they reflect broader U.S. policy, which continues to ignore international law, human rights concerns, and the growing outcry from your constituents. I’m urging you to stop supporting unconditional military aid to Israel. Weapons and funding should not be handed over while Israel continues to bomb refugee camps, block humanitarian aid, and defy international rulings such as the ICJ’s finding of plausible genocide.
You often speak about standing on the side of democracy and human rights. But voting to continue arms sales — especially fully automatic assault rifles — to a country under investigation for war crimes directly contradicts those values.
Please show moral courage. I expect you to oppose future military aid packages to Israel, support investigations into human rights violations, and work to end U.S. complicity in the violence.
