I strongly oppose Todd Blanche’s nomination to Attorney General for several compelling reasons that raise serious doubts about his suitability for this crucial position. First and foremost, Todd’s past actions reveal a concerning pattern of prioritizing personal and political interests over the rule of law. His history includes questionable legal tactics that seem more focused on winning cases than ensuring justice. An Attorney General must embody integrity and uphold the law impartially, yet Todd’s track record suggests a willingness to bend the rules when it serves his agenda. Moreover, Todd’s approach to law enforcement is deeply troubling. He has consistently supported aggressive policies that disproportionately impact vulnerable communities. In a time when our society is calling for reform and a more equitable approach to justice, his stance seems out of touch with the urgent need for change. The Attorney General should advocate for fair and just practices, not perpetuate outdated methods that further marginalize those already at a disadvantage. Transparency is another critical issue. Todd has not demonstrated the accountability that the public expects from someone in such a powerful position. His reluctance to engage openly about his decisions raises questions about whether he can be trusted to act in the best interests of all citizens. An effective Attorney General must maintain a strong connection with the community, prioritizing trust and communication. In summary, Todd Blanche's history of questionable legal practices, aggressive law enforcement policies, and lack of transparency make him ill-suited for the role of Attorney General. We need a leader in this position who will champion justice, uphold the law with integrity, and foster trust within our communities. For these reasons, I cannot support his nomination.
