I urge you to work towards legislation that will fund adaptation and action against climate change.
The recent closing of the USFS regional lab in Portland shows that the people in charge are acting without understanding the consequences of closing these facilities. Luckily this time the Seattle smoke lab was spared as was Wenatchee.
But how long until the next round of cuts and lack of funding? Our current administration isn’t acting on the climate crisis currently happening and so it up to our state to continue to monitor and research.
The USFS is spending more on leases and building costs than it receives from Congress. Ta closed offices to save money, losing jobs and forcing longer commutes.
We need our scientists, we need public land workers like BLM and USFS, and we need to act on climate change. It’s here, it’s happening.
